Located South of Sapporo,Hokkaido,in the wintertime, Shikotsu’s ice festival is a treat for the eyes. Visitors can admire the ice sculptures, light-ups, and fireworks. Lake Shikotsu itself is deemed the second deepest lake in Japan, after Lake Tazawa in Akita. A bit in a rural area, but there are just right amount of things to do. Besides, why would you need to have stuff to do when you’re in the land of relaxing and therapeutic hot springs?
