Pre-Tour
Generally, we announce our tour offerings a year in advance of the tour date. At that point, you can signup on the page for the tour you are interested in and hold your spot with a deposit or begin a payment plan. After the tour deadline, we’ll send out some helpful pre-tour information and surveys to make sure you get the most out of your journey before it starts.

Let’s go!
Depending on the tour package selected, you’ll meet the group at the airport of departure or upon arrival to Japan. We’ll gather the group, check in to our first accommodations, and then we’re off!

How we tour
Our tours are a bit different from the typical tour. For starters, our guides don’t use flags and we travel by train/local transit whenever possible. Besides encouraging a casual “traveling with friends” vibe, this kind of touring keeps us integrated with the locals and allows for a lot of free exploration. If you are the kind of traveler that wants your guide to be a personal escort who buses you around on a tight schedule of pre-set destinations, you won’t enjoy our tours – but if you want the chance to see and learn about the best of what Japan has to offer while also making your own discoveries, you’ll love it.

The schedule
Itineraries are a combination of set destinations (such as temples, events, and festivals that the group attends) and destinations where guests can shop and explore on their own or with a guide as they wish. There’s also free time, so you can explore other destinations on your wish-list or re-visit a place you want to see more of.

Support
Each night, your guides will swing by your room to drop off some bedtime snacks during our turndown service, answer questions, and help you with any special requests you may have. Need an ATM? Want directions to a special location or tasty local restaurant? We’ve got you covered. In addition, guides will be on hand for a special “concierge time” before free days to provide maps and detailed directions.
